Graduation day

Wednesday was my last radiation treatment,  20 treatments. On this day I thought I would be finished, sure I’m finished with treatment but cancer doesn’t stop there. I'm now dealing with the radiation burns. Yes I am cancer free, but not worry free, and  life goes on.

Today was a follow-up with the surgeon, next week with the radiation oncologist . The following week there’s a doctor appointment with the cancer oncologist.   After that  there will be more frequent mammograms, there will be a daily pill to take for at least five years, and life goes on.

There was a little ceremony  after my treatment, I was awarded this diploma.

I was also given this guardian angel pin.

They had donated gifts from a husband and wife volunteer team. We chose this cute owl bird feeder.

I ordered this for myself, as I have learned you can't just go through breast cancer and forget about it. It's a sisterhood, I always be in. Life goes on.

I can't begin to thank so many people for all the cards, the gifts, the Masses, the hugs, the phone calls, the meals and unlimited supply of support.

I have even received more cards after this picture was snapped!

And life goes on . . . a life time journey.

Sometimes the cards matched, these came from opposite ends of the state.

This was one one big honking card! One of many this gal sent!!!!

There were many viral reality card sent via the internet by lots of you all.

I also want to ask for prayers for my friends with the big C. Cathy was just finishing her 6th and last round of chemo, next will be surgery and radiation. The blacksmith and I always dropped in on her and Jerry when our days corresponded.

There's Valerie, Vicki, Caleb, Charlotte, Geralyn, and Cathy's niece Sarah that need prayers.

Life goes one . . .

Back to our regular quilting blog.

This I made for one of my daughter's bffs from high school. Holly is expecting her first child.  It was fun to catch up at her baby shower. I even facetimed Sarah so they could see each other.

Sunday April 14th, we woke up to this S N O W.  But hang on it's Missouri and tomorrow the forecast is for 73 high and 80 degrees the next day.

Life. . . . it's always an adventure.

Tea for two!

Sarah's co-workers held a tea party for her on Saturday. Luckily I was close enough to drive down for the day. The crowd grew after this picture and half of the next table was full too.

I had to take a picture of the desserts. Coconut cake, to die for chocolate cake, and big chocolate covered strawberries.  The middle tier was grapes, Israeli melon, strawberry scones, and lemon curd. The bottom tier was chicken salad croissants, veggie wraps, and quiche.  All were delicious!

Lisa seems to know the daddy-to-be quite well. She gave 2 adorable ties, along with a black suit jacket, jeans, and tennis shoes!

Lisa also found a hat and mittens, that look just like Sarah's dog, Josie.

Charity gave a Florida gators bib made by her Mother. She also gave her a sample of the Missouri fabric for a bib and blanket to follow.

Here's the Gator blanket. You see Daddy-to-be graduated from the University of Florida.

These are the burp cloths I made. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Missouri, of course that is the fabric I chose. I also included onesies for MU.

I didn't want to leave my SIL out so of course I made burp clothes from the University of Florida too. Yes, I did include Gator onesies too. Thanks to my niece and sister in law for purchasing the onesies in Florida for me. Also a thank you to Brandi for sending me the Florida Gator fabric.

Thanks to Amanda and her son Gage for hosting the shower. I got to meet Amanda's mother who was in from Indiana. She too is a quilter. We had fun talking about grand babies and quilting!

Sarah is in the home stretch, one more shower to go!

Sarah's baby shower

On Sunday my adorable daughter-in-law, Lori, gave a baby shower for Sarah.

Lori did an awesome job with invitations. The daddy-to-be is a meteorologist so these were a perfect match.

Lori made the cupcakes to match the theme.

The animal plates were adorable too.

My sister, Lona, always makes the cutest baby carriages

Lori was still making these chocolates when we arrived two hours before the shower was to begin.

Here is Mommy-to-be at at 29 weeks.

It was great to have Rusty join us for the opening of the gifts.

The baby's great-grandma made this quilt. Well she did the embroidery work. I machine quilted it.

Here is the quilt I made. It too is machine quilted.

Rusty's mother lives out of state but sent the cutest gifts. It included a shirt for the baby boy just like his daddy wore many years ago. She enclosed a picture to show it.

Leah and Sarah are due just about a month apart. They are cousins by marriage. Leah is having a girl and Sarah a boy.

Of course the baby-to-be's cousins had to get in on the picture too.

These girls have been best buddies through high school, one since first grade. Sorry that Beth, Lindsey, and Julia couldn't complete this group.

It was a great party. I, among others with cameras, forgot to take pictures of all the food. There were chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches, a candy bar, chips and dip, veggie tray, and more. We were bummed that one great-Grandma wasn't feeling well and couldn't make it. One of Sarah's aunt was also ill. We hope they are on the road to recovery.

Baby is due December 31st!!!

She is having another shower on Saturday. I have more hand made items already boxed up!
