It was bound to happen sooner or later

It was going to happen whether I was ready for it or not.  The kid is gonna grow up. He's just so darn cute at this age.

However two weeks ago, he called me up. "Grandma, I have a loose tooth!   I need a pillow like you made for Brady."

He wanted a green one and one with a white button.

He was pretty proud of this one!

And today at school, he was pretty proud of this!

A Sunday foodie post

Dinner all started with some homemade bread. I had googled a recipe using my kitchen aid mixer. I found this one.  I was very please with the white bread and it's taste as well as it's texture.

I was then led to my Pioneer Woman's cookbook, where I found her recipe for pineapple upside down cake made in an iron skillet.  It was delicious. The son said it probably outranked Angel food cake in his book. Once again today I used my kitchen aid mixer.

Speaking of the son, he once again went mushroom hunting. The grandson and blacksmith had found a few earlier in the day, but the son bought home a grocery bag with many in it.

So I fried them up, while the guys grilled steaks and chicken breasts.

Photo of the day!

I then used my kitchen aid mixer to grind pork for breakfast sausage.

Have a good week!

Spring is Springing

Spring is blooming like crazy in Mid-Missouri. These pansies, two weeks ago were just tiny little plants buried under 5 inches of snow.

Pansies

The blue bells in the backyard are get prettier every day.

It wasn't but 2 months ago that this is what the poor little Casita looked like.

February 2011

This is today!  The blacksmith installed a new AC unit. Looks factory original. I am ready to hit the road ASAP!

Wait! I still have the quilt for the Casita to finish.  I will take any volunteers!

Coming to my house soon

It's been a busy week. We've had cousins staying with us since Sunday evening. They had been RVing for the winter in Arizona.

Jim and Nancy come for a few days every April on their way back to their home in Iowa.

Jim and Nancy and family last year at the Reunion in Iowa
We always have fun. Nancy and I have girl time, like shopping, baking, eating, drinking coffee, and shopping. Oh did I already say that?  The guys fish and garden.

Sunday evening, when they arrived, I had meatloaf, buttered yukon gold potatoes, home canned fried green beans, and blackberry crisp waiting for them. From that point on we ate well and ate a lot it seemed.

Monday's breakfast was country sausage, eggs, and toast. I wasn't at home for lunch (someone in this house still works a little). But dinner that evening was Taco El Pastor and spanish rice. Dessert was Roba Dolce Sorbetto. Thank you Karen .

"Tuesday's with Grandma" meant little Lizzie was here. Nancy and I made corn cakes, bacon, and eggs, topped off with fresh pineapple and strawberries. The guys were on their own for lunch. Dinner was fish and potatoes along with cole slaw. This was after the guys went fishing and caught 18 bluegills and crappies. We 3 girls (yes Lizzie too) had gone shopping which included stops at T J Maxx, JoAnn's fabric, Kohl's, and BK Bakery for some refreshments.

Wednesday morning it was  country sausage patties, sour dough skillet toast with homemade peach and blackberry jellies, and eggs.

Then the four of us went for a road trip. Our first stop was in High Point Missouri.  There we visited Ramer Brothers Oak Furniture store.

Farm House Table

This is what I went for. Eight weeks from now, it will be coming to my house with 3 leaves. I am so excited. As the family grows, so does the dining room table.

After the furniture store we stopped at a rummage sale. It was then on to Mennonite territory. We did a lot of shopping at Weaver's market. They have the biggest selection of fresh spices. It took almost two hours for us to do our shopping there. After that it was a local surplus store.

It was a fun afternoon, roaming the country side, seeing the horse and buggies, the steel wheeled tractors, the budding trees, and fresh country air.

After a few hours of down time at home, we grilled burgers for dinner.  It was our last night to visit and visit we did. It was almost 11:30 before we said our goodbyes.

Our next visit might be us visiting at their house.  How's that Nancy???

New blogspot when posting

Okay now that I have your attention . . . I'm sure those of you who use Blogger have recently experienced some problems. I know I could never get my paragraphs for one thing to show up. I could never truly label my pictures.

Well ladies and gentlemen go over and visit Karen at Sew many ways.  I always check her blog on Tuesday's when she gives the greatest tips.  But tonight on FRIDAY night she gives a great tutorial on Blogger. So here I am giving it a test run. You can even do strike through with out embedding a code.

I don't really have anything to blog about on my end, but you gotta see her post.

Jar Candles
I did post the jar candle picture just to see how easy it was to center a picture and label it too. I talked about these last winter.

Steak turners
And today the Blacksmith took this picture of steak turners he will be shipping out next week to Texas.

Vintage Fiestaware

Tonight I listed this vintage fiestaware on craigslist. I can even shift the picture to the right!

So much for my rambling.  Have a great weekend!
