Yesterday it was a state of emergency!!!

I was up at 7 Am or maybe a little before. Thank you Bentley dog for having to go out so early. Anyway, I decided to make some Fastnachtskuckens, or beignets, or donuts, what ever you want to call them.

It was cold outside. A beautiful sun rise was present.

Here is the finished product. This time I did a powdered sugar glaze. If you want the recipe, I've shared it before here.

I made several trips to the shop to see how my table was progressing.

Here is the top all glued up. It will hold my vintage sewing machines.

I then got this texted to me. So I just sat and drooled over this cute little guy.

Oh, did I forget to tell you that this was building up as I enjoyed my morning. Snow, sleet, thunder, lightening, and more of that over and over and over.

It was then that the governor declared Missouri was in a state of emergency. We ended up with about 6 inches of the mix.

So then the blacksmith had to do this!

You were ambitious early in the morning! I am sure your family enjoyed them. What a cute baby!!

We got snowed out from leaving after work yesterday for a weekend away. Hoping the roads have been cleared as we are leaving in about 30 minutes for a 3-hr drive to attend a dinner show tonight. Hopefully it does not end up being a 5-hr drive due to icy roads. Have a great weekend.

Fantastic table ! Oh, how you're going enjoy this!

I measured only four inches on our drive! No, I don't feel cheated. ;-)

Adorable babe

So cool that you are going to be able to display your vintage sewing machines. Love your sweet baby. I'm glad you posted the recipe for those "donuts" cuz when I saw them on facebook, my mouth was drooling.

Looks like BT will get to play in the snow again early this coming week. Oh joy.

Whatever you call them, those treats look awesome...thanks for the recipe, I will have to try them!

Your grandson is sooo cute, would love to pinch those cheeks.

Yeah for your snow, not so much for your state of emergency. I hear more may be coming your way...stay safe!

Fastnachtskuckens!! You must be German.

I come from a family of German bakers. My mom used to make these for us when we would head up to our cabin in the mountains in California or out to the desert in the early morning. She would always make a big Thermos of hot cocoa (from scratch) to have with the fastnachtskuckens.

You brought back wonderful memories. She used to sprinkle granulated sugar on them after she glazed them.

Major sugar rush and oh-so-good. You're the only other person I've known who knows what they are.
