A quick post before the internet goes down again!

Okay I will try to type fast. Our Internet is on the blink. A new modem is on the way.

This is the accident that recently happened here. It seems I am very accident prone these days. First I backed into the new garage door and broke the bottom panel. I was mowing grass and threw a blade off. . . (not the first time either). I have what looks like a hickey on my neck. The result of a curling iron. Or that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Broke the handle off the sweeper this week. Thank goodness the husband is handy, he fixed all of the above. But this tractor. . . well it's vintage. Jeremy got it for Christmas about 29 years ago.

You see Sunday someone didn't put it all the way away. It was beside my car, on the blind side away from the driver's door. As I backed out I heard a thud. Thank goodness it wasn't worse. I hit the tire on the axle of the wheel. It skinned the tire up pretty good. My unfavorite salesmen at the tire shop said not to worry.

See these hen and chicks? They are mega size. My friend Diane had her mother drop some by. I love them.

I better quit, before the Internet goes down.

Guess who came over today?

Yes, Elizabeth left her Mommy today and came to stay with me. Her big brother Alex came also. They both napped at the same time. However, she slept on Grandpa's side of the bed.

While she slept, I continued to sew her christening gown. I have it finished except for some hand embellishments.

Earlier in the day, I went to the local green house and bought bedding plants. Had I remembered to get potting soil, I could have at least planted the deck planters. I'm not sure rest of the ground is dry enough. Guess I could always "mud" them in.

I'm, no we are a little bummed tonight. Our favorite girl got knocked off Idol :(

My work schedule has been changed around this month. I don't work until the 14. I'm starting to like this 2 weeks of no work!

BAM Conference part 2

The conference is over. It was another great one again. The attendance was over 200 smiths. Wish I could say the weather was great. It was cold, damp and rainy most of the time.

You could find brooms for sale with hand forged handles.

This is the Tom Clark Memorial gate that many people worked on. Each blacksmith was asked to make a leaf for the gate.

Finally this is what I made for fellow blogger Tammy at Flat Creek Farm. She had sent me lilac starts. Today BT and I planted them. I should have told Mr W I needed some soil. Their soil looks like black gold, ours is rocky clay red.

Time for bed. We didn't get to sleep until after 1 AM last night. that was after two calls to the front desk and one in person appearance to get some very rude young men to stop talking in the lobby.

Today is day #2 at the Blacksmith Association of Missouri annual conference in Sedalia Missouri.

The day started very early. As I was getting ready in the hotel BT went for coffee and passed on the free breakfast. We left at 7:15 for the State Fair grounds. I pulled into McDonald's
for a Mocha Coffee. BT thought the $3 plus was way too much. He was telling me that he could refill his personal cup 3 or 4 times with plain coffee for that price.

As I pulled up to the window to pay, the clerk handed me a small card. She said that lady in front of you just paid for your order. The card said: "Someone bought your meal today as a practical way of saying that God loves you! You are important to God and to us! First Baptist Church, Sedalia Mo.

WOW how nice was that! BT and I were speechless and the lady was gone. I couldn't even say thank you.

At the building I run into Mr W. You might know him from Flat Creek Farm. I gave him a gift for Mrs. W. aka Tammy. I made him promise not to tell her what it was. He later gave me lilac bushes from her and my choice of a hand made ring, made by Mrs W. You see my gift to her was for the plants. I was always told not to say thank you for a plant or they wouldn't grow. So I am giving her a handmade gift in exchange. A picture will come from me and even maybe her, in a day or two.

I leave you with pictures from the day. A COLD, wet, rainy day. Nice to be in the hotel room with a good hot shower, and a warm bed.

Tuesday April 28th

It was a busy day for me. I worked on Elizabeth's #1 quilt, while

doing some laundry in the morning. Here is the quilt top. I need to do some machine applique before I quilt it. All of these fabrics were used in her room. I made curtains, dust ruffle, sheets, dresser scarf and a diaper stacker. We bought yards and yards of fabric.

Remember the wild ferns we dug up several weeks ago. There are really thriving. Most all of the old stuff is dying off. All these fonds are new ones.

This is my new billfold I picked up in town today. It not much thicker than a half inch. It will be easy to find in my feed bag style purse.





This is what I purchased today. The fabric, not the pattern. It's dated 1979. You can guess who will be wearing this christening gown. The picture doesn't do the border eyelet justice. Just take my word, it's beautiful and dainty!

One more day to sew. We leave on Thursday for the Blacksmith Association of Missouri Conference. It will be held in sedalia Missouri again this year.
