Day one Blizzard 2-1-11

Can you say B-L-I-Z-Z-A-R-D? That is what we are having. Thank goodness I had today off. Unless there are major power outages I am off tomorrow too.

I quilted some, followed Facebook a lot, baked oatmeal cookies, made vegetable soup, made a huge pot of beef stew, and fixed spaghetti for dinner. I now have plenty of already made food if we lose power. The fireplace with the hand forged crane can be used to heat any of those pots up.


This was about 8 AM with maybe 3 inches of snow.

But as the day wore on, the snow got deeper.

and deeper

and deeper.

Just for you guys I ventured out to see how deep it was. (Not really I was checking on the Blacksmith who was on the tractor).

As I type this 9 PM, we have probably 20 inches of snow and it's still coming down. It's 19 degrees with 29 MPH winds. Tomorrow night it's to be 7 below before the wind chill is factored in.

I leave you with the Blacksmith and his tractor. He is backing into the garage and pulling the snow away.
