How many of these old check boxes do you have? I can remember giving and receiving many a gifts in them.
As I was cleaning out some bathroom drawers this week, I found them holding old bobbie pins, dental floss, razors and a lot of junk.
This one rests on my closet shelf. It holds a mortar board gift box dated 1964. Apparently something the blacksmith received when he graduated from 8th grade. It also holds funeral cards from many years ago and some kind of gold metal flower thing, apparently broke off of something lost long ago.
But now, these are things of the past.

Oh yes! I have 4 or 5 of those red boxes right now in my desk. They hold the old cancelled checks and registers. Looks like you are doing some real "deep" cleaning at your place!
Have a great Labor Day holiday and try not to disturb too many dust bunnies.!
BTW where do they come up with these letters? It takes me 3 tries sometimes to get them right! Guess my eyes are going bad. ha
Never used them as a gift box, but they sure are great organizers! Not sure how the new packaging can work in either of those capacities...maybe now you will just have to take a picture of the gift you were planning on giving...ha ha!
Okay, I admit I just love boxes. (I suspect there is some deeper meaning there, but I'm not ready to figure out what its about!)
And I love those check boxes (despite the fact that over the last few years I mostly use my debit card so I rarely get a new box). I too store all kinds of things in them!
Oh my goodness. What is this world coming to! Since I pay all of my bills online and use my debit/credit card in the stores, checks are pretty much a thing of my past. We just keep a box on hand for the few times we need them.
You are just going to have to get creative in your gift giving. Think thin!
I still get those boxes. I must be dull and boring because I never used them for anything but the returned checks.
Fun post!
Your post definitely put a smile on my face...hehe!
