Missouri Pickers

Yesterday, the blacksmith and I rode along with Tammy of Flat Creek Farm and her blacksmith hubby to northern Missouri.

The guys are helping Mara, who recently lost her blacksmith hubby, get his tools and equipment ready for an auction.

We thought they should really be called the Missouri Pickers! (My I love that butt shot!)

Dorothy the cow greeted us upon our arrival. (Blacksmith's can make some amazing things!)

Mara is keeping her husband Ed's orchids alive. Gosh are they beautiful! I really wish you could see these two blue ones in person. I've never seen a flower with that bright color. She tells me all they need are 3 ice cubes every Tuesday!  Right, I've never be able to grow them like that.

This fuchsia one also is spectacular!

It seems all three of us blacksmith wife's like handkerchiefs.  Mara let me pick all I wanted from her stash. I found these purple ones, including some that Tammy had already returned.

When I got home I went through my pile and pulled all the purple ones out. I then found two more on Ebay. I am collecting purple ones to make another blouse for me.

You can read about my last blouse here.

We had so much fun, and was a good day visiting and remembering Ed too. Such a character he was (as evidenced by the famous Dorothy the Cow!). His spirit certainly lives on. Great pictures.. I adore that blouse. If I know Patti.. I would imagine we'll be seeing the purple version very soon :) -Tammy

A blouse from handkerchiefs--how cool is that!!

Is that butt your admiring your blacksmith's? Just asking....

I thought that blue orchid was fake. Unbelievable colors! I have never attempted to grow on myself.

I can't believe those are real orchids! Incredible!
Imagine how much more ladylike we'd all feel if we carried around such lovely hankies, too. I always admired that hanky blouse :)
The butt's a keeper, too lol

Who would ever think that an item used to blow one's nose or dab ones tears, could be so very beautiful! I am interested to see how you make a blouse from these. It would be a most lovely and delicate thing.

PS.I am recording a cd with my new book.. and Bushky has a CD with it... (but I used "animal" voices.)
