More borders or not?

Okay fellow quilters, I need your opinion. This is the autograph quilt I have been working on.

I can't decide if I should add another border? Perhaps red, but then I want to bind it in red. How would that look?

Let me know what you think. You non-quilters can tell me your opinion too!

Thanks

I think I fall into the wana-be quilter category. ;) That is really beautiful... are the signatures family, friends???

In my wana-be quilter's opinion, I would add another border. Not sure on the colors, though. I'll leave that advice up to the quilters!

The blocks were all signed at a family reunion. It's held every three years. We have an auction to raise money for the next reunion, so this will be auctioned off.

another border would be good but maybe a wider one than the others. Please show us the finished quilt. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Hi Patti, I vote for another border.
Somewhat wider.
But what ever you do it will be loved by the one who wins it at the auction.
Such a good idea getting the autographs. What kind of pen did you use? We have a 10 year family reunion coming in July, and I didn't get to go to the last one because my mother was in the hospital.

Patti,
That turned out great. What an heirloom it will be! I vote another border, wider than the others. I can't comment on color as my moniter shows everything dark. Whatever color you choose will be fine. What about taking a bunch of the fabrics you used and making a multi colored binding? Like 12 inches of one fabric, then 12 inches of another...does not even have to be equal lengths.

Hi Patti; What a wonderful idea for a family reunion! Your quilt is lovely, good work! I vote for a fairly wide border, my choice would be the bright yellow flowered print that you have in the quilt - if you have enough. The suggestion from Zoey to use a scrappy binding would look good, or the red that you had in mind would be great too. Of course the bottom line is always to go with what YOU like! Will you be quilting it yourself? By hand or machine?

Yes, yes on another border. Whatdaya think about pink??? It' so very cool that the family has all signed the quilt, what an heirloom treasure.

I was just emailed by a cousin who never contacts me and offered me a quilt that my great~grandmother made. Woohoo! It really touched my heart.

God bless and have a fabulous day ya'll!!!

I'm not a quilter as you well know, but I could end up being an interested bidder! Looks great, another border would be good too. Perhaps in a red shade just lighter than the outside color. But I know whatever you choose will be great.

Well, whoever wins this at the auction is very lucky...it looks beautiful.

Looks like you're going with another border and that's what I would have picked too.

Happy quilting...good weather for staying inside and working on a quilt for the next few days.

That is so neat! It's beautiful and the idea is great--never saw a quilt like that before.

Reminds me of the bed sheet we've taken to all the Women's Annual Christmas Shopping Trip and Sleepover. We all write a little something in pen on the sheet to commemorate the occasion and sign our names. It is *hilarious!* reading thru all the old entries at the start of each new trip. We laugh our butts off.
