I've said it before, and I'll say it again . . .

I love TUESDAYS!

Another day with Ms. E here. Today she came wearing the outfit  I made for her a couple of weeks ago. She was also sporting the hat that Grandpa had bought for her at Easter.

Now is this a tomboy or a little lady???

Ms. E and her great grandma Wieberg
A few weeks ago when we had Ms. E's great grandma over for dinner, as E was leaving, she yelled bye Wieberg!!  Some how she forgot the Grandma part. So dang cute.

Ms. E and her grandma
Quiet time her and I were enjoying.

Ms. E loves her aunt Sarah
And as a final note, I just wanted to say thank you all for your prayers and concerns for the Sarah. She is making a nice recovery from the surgery. After a few more days of rest she will be back to work the first of next week.

Things to share and some NOT to share

I like to think of myself a person who is very willing to share.  “Sharing” can actually mean giving something as an outright gift: for example, to “share” one's food really means to give some of it as a gift.

So let me share with you this old favorite cookbook of mine. It's copyrighted 1977, the birth year of my first born son. It's a book I haven't used in quite a few years. With busy lives, little kids and a job it was hard to always keep the sour dough starter going, let alone to find time to bake breads.

But life sometimes slows down and I thought it was time to make another starter, and so I did Sunday night. Last night while scanning the book for my first new recipe I found sour dough pancakes.

This is what they looked like this morning. They are so light and fluffy, melt in your mouth goodness. You will forget all about the real butter you have slathered on them, or the maple syrup.

Sourdough Cherry Rose Rolls

This recipe from page 61 might just be my next favorite. I remember making these over 30 years ago and they were delicious.

Back to sharing.

Lizzie wanted to share her "Pink Lizzy" with Bentley but there just wasn't room.

I even shared my bucket of water with her today, between transplanting some grass.

She then wandered (okay we took her back there) to the raspberries. The wild raspberries are almost  finished, but still we found a few. As much as I love these myself, I shared.

And a few more I shared with her.

Now to things I really didn't want to share.

Gallbladder issues.

Did you know gallbladder disease is hereditary?  Well that is what they told the newlywed.  Yes, the daughter inherited gallstones from her mother. Me, I gave it to her!

So tomorrow at 9 AM, she is having surgery. Not something a young bride needs just 3 1/2 months into her marriage. But I have no fear the new son in law will take great care of her.

Now let me share my recipe for Whiskey slush with you, because tomorrow might be a stressful day for this mother living 352 miles away from the surgery center.

Whiskey slush

12 oz frozen lemonade
6 oz frozen Orange juice
1 cup sugar
6 cups water
2 cups prepared tea (I used 2 cups water and 3 tea bags)
1 1/2 cups bourbon

Mix all together in a large plastic container.
Place in freezer, stir about every 6 to 12 hours for the first day or two.

Serve with spoon and add a little bit of white soda.

Or spoon it straight into your mouth if the need be!

Thursday night live, downtown Jefferson City MO

Little guys grow up.

Last week, we did something that we hardly ever do, nightlife. The son of friends of ours (long time friends, we go back almost 40 years together) was playing in a battle of the blue grass bands in town. So we hopped in the Jeep and went to a street party.

The above collage shows Nick with his Dad, playing with our son Jeremy, with his Mom, and just enjoying one of our many camping trips.

Oh yes and he does have a little sister, Jessie.  She is all grown up now too.

Nick is now 30 something, owns a bike shop in town, and plays in a bluegrass band.

Nick's band, The Dirt Leg Benders took first place and then second place out of three bands. You figure that one out.
Some of the crowd

The Osage Bluff quilter and blacksmith
Can you tell between the two of us, we have had 2 small light beers, 1 chocolate beer, one 7-up, a diet coke and one sweet tea. Such party people we are.
Kas
This gal was one of my grade school classmates. She's amazing, and I won't tell anyone that next year we will both have completed our sixth decade of life. You go Kas!!

Dirt Leg Benders

The street party after the other street party.

We hope to make this a weekly event. It was just that much fun. Fun music, hola hooping, people watch and a few drinks make for good times.

Take a listen.

She's back!!!

Look who came to help me quilt again?   NOT

Afterwards we had a little fashion show. I saw a blog the other day, Searching Out Simple and she showed some darling little skirts to make. (Her June 6th posting).  So I made a couple for Ms. E.  The tops I just purchased from Wally's world for $2.50 and added some embellishments.  The skirts took 1/4 yard for the body. The rest was in my leftover fabric box.

This shot was when she first woke up.

We then ventured outside.

Here she is getting into this whole modeling thing.

She even wanted to get Bentley in on the action.

That is until he wanted to taste it. She was out of there then.

You know, clothes sewing was my first love, long before quilting. I might just have to get back into it.

Flag day

Today is flag day. I tried to change my header picture and blogger is not cooperating. It says I am at my limit on pictures. I hope it's their issue. Anyone else having issues?

So I will just share my flag quilt with you on here and be without a header picture.

I made this quilt in 2001-2002. I started it the week of the 9-11 disaster. It was hand quilted.  We sleep under it every night.

I'd wave it outside on the flag pole today, but it's raining in central Mizzouree.

Sunday afternoon

Sarah was home for the weekend, so after a family breakfast that included Grandma W. we headed outside for pictures.

We always take a picture with the kids standing by the tree they gave me for Mother's day in 2009.   Here's a look back to see how the tree has grown, let alone the children.

Rockin' and rollin'

We were rockin' and rollin' this morning.  About 3:11 a 4.2 earthquake hit here.

We see no damage here at Osage Bluff.

It's a weird spring here, first we had the devastating tornado EF5 in Joplin.
Today we had an earthquake, and they are saying the Missouri River here could flood beyond the 1993 flood level.

Prayers appreciated.

Jacob's Cave swap meet

The forecast was 95 degrees, so we were up and on the road by 6:30.  This was one big swap meet.

Road after road of stuff.

Even the cicadas were measuring things up.

There were pigeons. I even saw some fan tail ones. My late brother used to raise those.

House birds?  Yep, Parakeets too.

Tame turkeys.

Love birds!!

And then bras! 6 in a package.  If you've never seen a 42 FF you're missin' it. (That is coming from a blogger that belongs on the top line of that sign.)

I loved this vintage baby stroller. I'm pretty sure it had dry rot.

And vintage wash tubs.

We spent 3 plus hours at the hot, humid, and dusty swap meet. I came home empty handed. The blacksmith found 3 or 4 small things.

In the end it was a costly trip. We had a flat tire when we got home and the tire is ruined.
