Thursday night live, downtown Jefferson City MO

Little guys grow up.

Last week, we did something that we hardly ever do, nightlife. The son of friends of ours (long time friends, we go back almost 40 years together) was playing in a battle of the blue grass bands in town. So we hopped in the Jeep and went to a street party.

The above collage shows Nick with his Dad, playing with our son Jeremy, with his Mom, and just enjoying one of our many camping trips.

Oh yes and he does have a little sister, Jessie.  She is all grown up now too.

Nick is now 30 something, owns a bike shop in town, and plays in a bluegrass band.

Nick's band, The Dirt Leg Benders took first place and then second place out of three bands. You figure that one out.
Some of the crowd

The Osage Bluff quilter and blacksmith
Can you tell between the two of us, we have had 2 small light beers, 1 chocolate beer, one 7-up, a diet coke and one sweet tea. Such party people we are.
Kas
This gal was one of my grade school classmates. She's amazing, and I won't tell anyone that next year we will both have completed our sixth decade of life. You go Kas!!

The street party after the other street party.

We hope to make this a weekly event. It was just that much fun. Fun music, hola hooping, people watch and a few drinks make for good times.

Take a listen.

Patti, I haven't even had time to read my list of favorite blogs
let alone Comment.
Will make it up right after the weekend.

What a fun night. We rarely go out at night either. Once I get home from work, I hate to leave the house. . . Except for the musical dinner shows we like to attend, but they are all weekend events out of town.

Patti, this is such a fun post! Jeff has nightlife? Our idea of nightlife is after dinner we walk the west field and look for blackberries and birds. I am happy your friend's son won first AND second place. You and the Blacksmith look great and happy. Retirement must agree with you :) Sixth decade, I'm there in September, CH just made it this month!

Nightlife? What's that? My nightlife usually consists of computer time or napping because I'm getting old and tired! Your photos are great and you and your hubby look so young! Do you have a fountain of youth in your part of the state? :D Have a great day.

How fun!! Music sounds great too. I never ever could master the hula hoop. Very impressed with your friend. Great pic (as always) of you and the Blacksmith! Bethel fiddle fest is this week.. that will be my outing Saturday. German food, fiddling all day long. Does it get any better? Well, maybe if there were some chocolate beer added ;) -T

Looks like you had a great time! :-) It's always nice to get away from home for a little while and relax with good friends! And your little helped in your previous post is such a doll!!

I think that is so neat and it sounds so fun! We aren't big party animals either. We are either working, on a trip or staying at home.

We wanted to go to that so bad. We love Bluegrass. But, life made other plans for us. We did make it downtown last night and it was a lot of fun. I'm hoping we make it for the last one next week, although we'll be a bit late because we HAVE to go to Dakota's ballgame.

Hope BT is feeling better today.
