Callie from next door a.k.a. Thelma Louise Tacklebox
Elizabeth my granddaughter a.k.a.Rosa Lee Rugratt

The last to arrive was Larraine. She is sporting a dress from one of the familie's great cousins.

Here I am with BT's oldest sister, Janie.

Here is BT's mother and one of our hostess, his sister Grace.

Lorie, Mom again and Mandy.

Nine year old Madyson.

Jessica a.k.a Jermima Jean Jumpinbean fell asleep in the chair. This is what happens when you turn 19 the evening before and celebrate. . . .And we wondered why she wouldn't partake of the Mint Juleps.

Some fine details in the hats, I might say.

My godchild, Melissa a.k.a Lucille Rae Leakyboat.

All 4 tables were all set with white linens and vintage glassware.

Food! There were amaretto cream stuffed strawberries, pinwheels, stuffed mushrooms, ham/cheese cake, dill dip with rye bread, shrimp rings, sausage and crackers, lots for fresh fruits, candied apple rings, green cinnamon pickles and to wash it all down, Mint juleps or Lime sherbet punch.

Finally here was my contribution, they are mini watermelon slices. For the recipe you can go
here. You could also do this with oranges and lemons.

To keep this with my quilt themed blog, here are pictures from the show and tell. hThis was done after our fine afternoon tea.
Janie is showing her trip around the world quilt made from polyester. We all had to play where's the 2 waldo blocks. She swore two were wrong.

Mom showed her embroidered blocks. When she came home from Texas last week, she would have brought more to show, had there been room in the van.

Melissa shows the quilt she made for her daughter who loves bright colors.

Melissa had this awesome sampler quilt she saved for last. It features several hand appliqued blocks.

Grace who was the creator of this fine event, had prepared a little story on everyone to warm us up. This is what she had to say about me:
Why I’m just pleased as punch to be here today! When I told my husband, Beauregard, that I was finally accepted into the Sisterhood, it just purely made his day. He was prouder than the day our son, Bentley, was born! That Bentley – he couldn’t look more like his daddy if he was picked out of his butt with a tweezers! But he gets his smarts from his mama if I do say so myself. We did have some other children but Bentley is such a joy that we don’t much talk about the other fruit of our loins. Oh, yes, something about myself… Did I mention that my recipe for burnt beans is world famous? I have posted it on my blog: The Petunia Patch, if anyone hasn’t already received the recipe card in my annual Christmas correspondence.
I would like to say a big thank you to Grace and Janie for hosting this first ever event. Surely this will not be our last one. Bigger and better things will follow . . .

Farm Livin'

Green acres is the place to be.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide.
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

"Country life" in our front yard.

The hen turkey and baby resting in the front yard.

And I'll have you know I risked my life taking these pictures. I climbed a bar stool with a bum arm. The stool was placed next to the front door to take a photo through the transom glass where there wasn't a screen. Nothing is impossible for my readers!
Check out the country life at
Judy's too.

The Weekend ended great!

The weekend started out great. We headed up river after work to grill dinner on the island.

Colten got into eating cherries.

Our boat ride included seeing this! Wow that's not a cow! Where did he come from on the Osage River?

Saturday evening after church we brought the three grand kids home with us, while their Mommy and Daddy went for a date night.
Here is Mr A. the movie that started at 8 was just too late for him.
Oh and notice his eye? That's what happenes when you get too close to the spin table that holds the grocery bags at Wal-Mart. Yikes! (It did get him and his brother free suckers from Wal-Mart.)

Sunday morning, I canned tomatoes and chili sauce. Bum arm and all (Thanks for the call Tammy regarding my arm). The arm can't be hurt too bad, they don't have me going to an orthopod until the middle of the month.

Sunday we went to Osage Bend Parish. Shown here are some of the parishioners from their centennial a year or so ago. It was all you could eat fried chicken, and roast beef.
After dinner we played bingo with the boys. Alex won $19.25. The boys also played lots of kids games and went home with what they called good loot, including new hats.
The evening ended when I was told I won $50 cash in their raffle.
It's going to be a good week!

Show us your life - Wedding party and flowers

Kelly at Kelly's Korner is once again hosting "Show us your life". This time it's your wedding party.

These were the styles, 39 years ago. The bridesmaids dresses were made from bonded yellow lace, lace was fused onto polyester. The sleeves were full gathered, sheer yellow organza fabric. A scooped neckline and a yellow wide satin belt accented the empire waist.

And yes, I made these too, while I was finishing my last two weeks in high school. Total cost for the 4 dresses was $43.19. That even included the "new" invisible zipper!

The girls carried fresh flower boquets made of dyed green daisies and yellow carnations. I remember them having big thick green leaves as a back ground. I've slept may times since then and don't remember what kind of leaves they were.

The wedding party included, my little sister and BT's little sister. . .my brother Wesley and his wife Linda. My cousin Rick was an usher. BT's sister Janie was maid of honor. BT's cousin Wayne was best man and another cousin, David was usher. Best Man Wayne had dinner with us several months ago. He lives about 150 miles away. It was the first time we had seen each other in years!

And here is a picture that shows it all.

The one arm typist . . . after the skating party

Today was Brady's 8th birthday party. He decided to have a roller skating party.

Here he is skating with one of his classmates.

Grandpa is getting little brother Alex started first on the carpet.

Grandpa and Aunt Sarah lace up.

Cousins Brooke and Bailey take a turn around the rink.

Then Grandma here decided she can do it too. Never mind it's been years since I was on wheels.

Then Grandpa took a fall.

Time for cake.

Then time for ice. ICE. Yes Grandma took a fall. Of course it had to be my left arm, since I'm left handed. My Mom is giving me the sympathy look! HELP me!

So after the skating party, bum arm and all we went for Mexican. Even Elizabeth was ready for a Margarita. I really was!

I'll live with the pain for a day or two. The doctor should be in Monday if I need him.

Anyway . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRADY.
